Osmer's Theo Drama Theory Analysis

If we were to apply Osmer’s “theo-drama” theory, I believe the first and second offices of apostle and prophet (as teacher) would resemble a mini-series, because the course of actions leading up to these particular offices are especially long. For example, the process of the apostle and in-house prophet includes spirit led practices such as; the study of the written word accompanied by prayer, baptism into the ministry of teaching (theophany and witness), leadership testing (dry seasons), introductions of the inspired word (revelation), and the delivery of the word. Osmer’s also identifies such a process as what he would describe as burden, “After we have been handed over for the burden we must then begin the task of “catechesis, handing on Israel’s Scripture and early Christian tradition.” A biblical example would be Jesus as a child, who also …show more content…
Jesus baptism was a clear theophany of not only his messiahship but an introduction to his multifaceted earthly ministry. After his father’s affirmation, others would receive revelation of his personage and operations. The Apostolic and Prophetic teaching ministry is birthed through a type of baptismal. Jesus never referred to himself as “Rabbi” or “Teacher,” and yet others recognized him as such. Others testimonies were confirmations of his vocation because of the authority in which he taught. One example is Jesus’ disciples and followers, “And Jesus answered and said to him, Simon I have something to say to you,” and he said “Rabbi, speak.” In the context of this scripture God had given Peter revelation of Jesus’ divine identity. Theologically, I believe that in order for a teaching ministry to be powerful it must be equipped properly and offices must be appointed or appropriated with approved candidates.
