In the world of advertising, many tactics and strategies are used to lure consumers into purchasing a product. Even though producers endeavor to be unique from their competitors, they all share something in common, and that is, their manner of advertising. In his article, “Oscar .Mayer Ads Are Pure Baloney”, Frank D’angelo outlined how advertisers try to include the appeal of sex, adventure, emotions, fear, etc. in their advertisements to grab the attention of various consumers with various interests. Also, D’angelo described advertising as “one of the most powerful agencies the world has ever seen for influencing people to buy goods and services they may neither want nor need” (263). Moreover, D’angelo gave some examples of advertisements and called out specific words that advertisers use to appeal to the consumers in different ways to manipulate and lure them into buying the product.
