Osama Bin Laden As A Hero

I would imagine the term hero or heroism would mean many different things to many different people. To a child, a hero may be Superman, to an anti-American, Osama bin Laden may be a hero, to an aspiring astronaut, perhaps Neil Armstrong comes to mind. From my perspective a hero is simply one who selflessly stands out from the crowd in a way that positively impacts another. Jesus Christ is arguably one of the most heroic individuals in history. Jesus died a martyr for the Christian religion. Individuals from all walks of life, and from many different religions will forever refer to Jesus as a hero. In The Sermon On The Mount Jesus Christ continued his heroic ways by remaining relentless with His teachings even under the fear of retribution. “When he saw the crowds he went up a mountain. Jesus’ teachings denounced things such as physical violence or even the thought of violence. “Do not resist those who wrong you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn and offer him the other also.” (Sermon, p. 41) These teachings were not only how His disciples were expected to live but also how Christ

Some may say that in our world there are no heroes, but the fact is nobody is purely good. Others may believe that the only real heroes are ones in comic books, yet on the news we hear the word “hero” on non-comic book related things, so this can’t be completely true.
