For many religions, it has been identified that there is typically one similar component: belief. For example, Christians display their belief through a statement called a creed, which says that they believe in one God (Nye, 105). While Muslims do profess belief in Allah, Islam goes against the common assumption that all religions prioritize belief. Rather, Muslims emphasize works over belief, also known as orthopraxy. Islam demonstrates this alternate core component through profession, both publicly and privately, of their submission to God, the Five Pillars, and various laws. Because this religion is not founded upon belief, it complicates the understanding that all religions have a central component of belief.
