Dr. Tehrany was sworn in by the outgoing Police Commissioner William J. Bratton, thereby, he joined the Society of Honorary Police Surgeon. The Society is comprised of elite surgeons who display remarkable knowledge and experience in one of the following specialties: Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, and Vascular Surgery.
As a member of the Society, Dr. Tehrany is entitled to serve the NYPD officers and their immediate family members whenever they require an orthopedic care. When the NYPD members need an orthopedic doctor, the Society calls the closest and most appropriate Honorary Surgeon to treat the person upon their arrival at the medical center or hospital. …show more content…
The First step of the process is the nomination of new Honorary Surgeons, which is initiated by NYPD service members. Once the lists with nominated members are completed, the second step begins. During this phase of the process, nominated members go through an extensive review of their previous experience, knowledge, and expertise.
