On March 3, 2016, I, along with my classmates and professor visited the St. John Chrysostom Russian Orthodox Church. A visitation to this church strengthened my appreciation for architecture as my vision was vital during this experience. The words of Father Stan and the iconographer, Ela further allowed me to expand my understanding of Orthodox Christianity.
During the visit to the church, Ela informed us that in the Orthodox tradition, the full use of the senses is engaged. This was intriguing as I had no prior knowledge of this notion.
Although unrelated to Orthodox Christianity, to me, the most meaningful aspect of that visit was the warm atmosphere as it prompted me to revive the memories of the days following my grandfather’s death.
