As an orthodontist, my main goal would be to create a brighter world through the process of straighten out someone’s life one tooth at a time. Fixing other peoples smile would not only build up their self-esteem, but allow them to develop better communication skills which can motivate one’s participation in the community. Knowing that I gave a patient the confidence to smile again and to feel comfortable in their own skin would have such a huge positive impact in my life and I’ll feel as though I am giving back to the world. Dentists and bricklayers have a lot in common and the only significant difference in what they do is the scale in which they perform their work. Bricklayers and engineers have to construct and raise buildings from the ground and dentists and nurses do the very same thing but using filling material and metal screws instead. Dentistry is therefore essentially practical in nature and so it stood out against other fields of work for me because it has the unique combination of hands-on work along with the strong dentist-patient relationship that forms over time. This enables dentists to personally connect with their community. I did not develop an overnight passion for dentistry but it was born through research, work experience and careful consideration.…
