Abstract
The possibility to save and rehabilitate a deteriorating dentition depends on position of the teeth within the alveolar process and on number of remaining teeth along with their periodontal status. When the balance between forces acting on the teeth and the confines of periodontal tissues gets disturbed, an unstable condition arises. It occurs either by mobility of teeth or reduction of the periodontium. Gingivitis is unlikely to change into a destructive periodontitis by orthodontic forces. Further periodontal breakdown occurs in patients with periodontitis in whom poorly executed orthodontic treatment is performed. This article provides an overview of the possible side
