Orson Wells 'Rikki-Tavi': Comparing Movie And Book

Today’s podcast will prove everyone that believes the movie narrated by Orson Wells, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is more effective than the novel written by Rudyard Kipling. “This is the story of the great war that Rikki-Tikki-Tavi fought single-handed,” For long now the book Rikki-Tikki-Tavi has always been more desirable than the movie. Most people would think that the animated film elaborated the book in a better way, that’s probably because they have no sense of creativity. Yes the movie is easier for young audiences to understand, However a good book can’t be explained over a 25 minute film.

The plot of the story was to have courage and overcome Rikki-tikki’s fear of snakes, Rikki-tikki also develops a deep bond with a British family and is later in the story. The snakes may seem much larger and stronger than he is, but he overcomes his fear of snakes and manages to scare them out of teddy’s garden. There are a few main events in the story. At the start of the story Rikki-Tikki is taken by a flood in a summer storm, this was also expressed in the movie however the movie had a different theme. It was darker and gloomier than what is told in the story. The following day he was found by the mother washed up in the sand, this is different in the movie as Rikki is found by the father. In both the movie and story he soon encounters the snake. The story described the feeling and the intensity of the moment, this was also displayed in the movie however wasn’t as understandable about how Rikki-tikki was feeling about his encounter with the snake. “Rikki-Tikki felt his eyes growing red and hot” (example from the book “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling, 1894).
