Orpheus and Eurydice
1. Orpheus is known for being a skilled music player in Greece ancient times. He has an gifted voice that could bring people together and touch people’s minds and hearts while they are listening. The myth mentions how no one not even god could avoid his lovely music. Orpheus also taught medicine, writing, mystic rites, and agriculture. Eurydice is a beautiful woman who Orpheus married and loved dearly. She later dies from being bitten by a poisonous snake.
2. The Orpheus and Eurydice tale is considered a romantic story. They fell in love when they first laid eyes on each other. Orpheus and Eurydice fell madly in love with each other. On their big day, there was man who had a plan on killing Orpheus. They ended up running away, which is what caused Eurydice to get bit by the poisonous snake and die. Orpheus had a conversation with his father Apollo who was going to talk to the god of the underworld to agree to his request and bring back Eurydice. There were two moments that I noticed while reading the myth. One was when Orpheus was singing to the gods for Eurydice to come back. People who didn’t like him could feel the pain in his voice and noticed how hurt he was. In the movie Orfeu, Orpheus remained singing to honor Eurydice in peace. He sings in torment taking in that he lost the love of his life. Another moment in the myth, was when the love story for Orpheus came to an end. There were many different women who felt some type of way about being denied, Orpheu did not allow the women to get a reaction from him and turned them down. The women didn’t like how he was treating them so they decided to kill him. In relation to Orpheu he was carrying Eurydice’s body in the movie, and the women were invading him trying to deceive him which is when one women made her move and killed
