#1 The Godfather film initiates that the Corleone family has power and authority, and commands respect in the very first scene. The head of the family is called the Godfather. He is conducting covert business in his mansion on his daughter’s wedding day. During the activities, he is intermittently meeting a schedule full of people who ask for favors of him to get something done that the law can’t do. The visitors are required to do a favor for him when called upon at a later date. This demonstrates that the Godfather has power greater than the law. One particular detail of this power the Godfather has, is when the very talented singer Johnny Fontane asks of his help to be cast in a movie role that the director awarded to someone else. He comes to the Godfather for help to get the part even though they start shooting the film in a week. In various scenes, they are elegant adornments within the closed and open spaces of the home and business locations of the Corleone family. The Corleone Family owns a huge estate where the wedding takes place. That wedding scene displays the estate grounds with the wealth and expenses of people being fed with extravagant meals and drinks. A photographer is caught taking pictures, the camera is destroyed and the cost for the camera is thrown at him. While the Godfather is healing from a gunfire attack in the hospital, Michael visits him and finds his father without bodyguard protection.
