Organized and disorganized crime scenes (Criminal Behavior: A Psychological Approach (2012), p. 269) can help identify the type of criminal the authorities are dealing with, in organized crime scenes for example, indicate the criminal had time to plan the crime and had a specific victim in mind. The following are some examples of staging: when items are missing to show that it was a burglary gone badly and there are no signs of forceful entry, when a body is moved to another place to make it seem that the person at other place committed the crime, or when they try to make the crime scene look like a suicide.
