This standard relates to the skills principals need in managing school resources to achieve a fundamental goal of the school; sustaining a high-quality learning environment. Scheduling, budgeting, and the allocation of human and financial resources must be done while keeping in mind the best interests of students. All decisions impact the learning environment, especially decisions related to student and campus safety. It has been my experience, that above all, the principal views student safety as the number one priority each day. Student supervision, managing campus access and the arrival and dismissal of students take up a large part of a principal’s time. Creating efficient schedules and delegating responsibility are necessary skills that a principal must have. The principal is expected to skillfully manage human resources and facilities to maximize instructional time for the delivery of high-quality instruction. I was able to demonstrate my organizational and leadership skills during my role as 6th grade team leader. At the middle school I created special schedules for assessment, worked with teachers using the 6th grade discipline infraction system and assisted the campus testing coordinator with STAAR testing. I also gained valuable insight into school operations by preparing budgets and purchase requests for the science department and 6th grade team incentive parties. I continue gaining experience with leadership at the elementary level by assisting with teacher professional development in science instruction and by organizing extracurricular and co-curricular school
