We all noticed that in these discussions, each of us made contributions of information that as individuals, we would have not thought of. As a team, we could come up with more background information in documenting facts, having a more complete picture of events that lead up to better informed decisions. We motivated each other with encouragement when we had particularly daunting tasks ahead. For example, we had an important audit that was coming up. It was imperative that we passed muster. Our senior leadership demanded it. It was a high-pressure situation. We performed a self-inspection on each other’s work looking for any deficiencies. If we found something that needed work, we all did it together, helping each other to bring it up to the standards that the group had selected.
In setting team performance standards, we went through the processes that were utilized to perform our duties. We discussed the ways in which we handled them and possibly better ways to perform the same tasks. It was taken into account what the required outcomes were to be, as well as the desired additions to those outcomes. From there, we would find a general consensus of the best way to achieve the desired result and that would be documented as our process. All participated in the discussions, and all would agree on the procedure. One or two may not agree with the actions in total, but they had a forum in which to voice their opinions and
