Dynamic Organizational Culture

Tying in with organizational realities and management styles, are dynamic processes. The term “dynamic” may bring to mind motion, changing, or not static which is how the Oxford American Dictionary (1980) defines it (p. 268). Organizations are made up of various processes, and strong leaders do well to handle changes that come with them in a business. These are seen in the areas of organizational culture, critical thinking, and decision making.

Some patients’ insurances require authorizations or referrals to see a specialist, and for the office to receive payment referrals must be documented in patient charts. The first step is to be aware of the correct problem, in this case not receiving or a delay in referrals. Questions asked should be logical and based on facts. They should also be asked and answered before a bigger problem develops. Is there a problem with the processes in the office? Are patients made aware of the requirement so they can assist if needed? Is communication lacking between COC and primary care doctors in town? Asking and answering critical questions will prevent future problems. Once COC understands critical thinking, improvement will be seen immediately. Referrals received at or before time of service saves employees the time it takes to call patients, primary doctors, and insurances, while reducing the amount of money written off when insurances do not pay for unauthorized visits. Solving the referral problem will also make the office a more relaxed place to work because there is no finger pointing and blaming of others for not doing his or her …show more content…
Although there are numerous decision making models, one stands out. Characterized by making “consistent, value-maximizing choices within specified constraints”, it is known as rational decision making (Robbins & Judge, 2009). The rational decision making model is recommended for COC because it sets a standard for reaching an ideal decision. Its approach is broken down into steps which add structure and sequence to the process. Following the model removes as many constraints as possible which also brings about consistent decision making.
