This statement raises the idea of beneficence. Beneficence is the term meaning obligation to do good. Some individuals think of organ donation as a “moral duty” ‘(Lauri 651). It is stated that it is something that everyone should do. Although, not only should the general population strive to do good, but “the transplant surgeon should always strive for beneficence, “doing good”” (Testa 1658). Often times it can be seen as an act of charity, or what is expected of a person. Also, one individual stated that “saving a person’s life is a chance to do something heroic” (Lauri 651). Which leads to a good feeling. For instance, if you knew that once you have passed away, one of your organs was the saving factor of another’s life, wouldn’t that make you feel good. Some would say that their goal in life is to do something that matters, or to make a difference in the world. Wouldn’t saving a person’s life fulfil that goal? Therefore, if you are on the organ list then one may have that
