More than 123,000 men, women, and children need lifesaving organ transplants. Not all organs can be donated but, the ones that can are kidneys, heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, and the intestines as of now. Eyes, stem tells, and tissues can be donated as well. Being an organ donor is important for the fact of saving lives. With organ donors now there are 79 people that receive organ donations; however 20 people still die every day on the waiting list. There is still a need for organ donors today and always will be. (U.S Department of Health and Human Services, 2012) This is a selfless donation to help someone in need. Remember donating organs may help a loved one someday down the road. People should consider becoming an organ donor as it gives someone a second chance at life, Donate for life, and the need for donors. First of all giving someone a second chance at life is an important thing to do. People are 6 times more likely to need a transplant than give an organ (ORGANize). Giving someone the gift of being able to live healthy again or even stay alive. Remember that giving an organ doesn’t mean the person will die. People can live with one of some organs. Keeping someone else’s loved one alive is something important to think about. It is was in your family you would want someone to be an organ donor as well.
