In two close games, the cheers can add that extra level of intensity for the teams to pull off the win. With the opportunity of the Org Fair, it gives us an opportunity to recruit some more members and spread the

How would you like it if you knew that you were being treated unjustly? No one likes to be treated unjustly. No matter what your race may be or what gender you are; everyone should be treated fairly. For the world to have a moral society, people have to treat each other fairly, regardless of their biases. When people base their opinions on one aspect of a person, they begin to judge them and look down on them, and no one enjoys being looked down upon.…

For years now, people have tried to be more “politically correct” in everything they say or do. “Political correctness,” I have observed does not only pose problems for those in the majority but for the minorities as well. While on the surface this seems to be just a way of being considerate and kind to fellow human beings, I believe it is actually hurting society as a whole. When majority members cannot speak candidly, members of under-represented groups also suffer. What it results in is that no one, even the minorities it tries to protect, can discuss their concerns about fairness and fears without falling into the negative stereotypes.…

I must admit I was intimidated by the readings for this week. However, once I started, I realized the readings complement the information in Literate Lives from my Literacy Foundations course, which makes it simpler to understand. Let’s look at some of the paraphrased facts from that course that correlates with this week (Flint, 2008) . Then, I will build upon that information to dive deeper into the issue of disproportionality.  The background, culture, and experiences teachers have differ from their students.…

Often, women walk down the beauty aisle of a department and grocery stores and see all types of merchandise for their hair, but not many know what the products are right for them. They see products that promise to rejuvenate dry, damaged hair; volumize limp, flat hair; straighten curly hair, and regenerate thinning hair. With my hair being a kinky curl, when I was younger, I would ask my mother if we could buy relaxers and apply them at home. She would give me the same answer every time, “This should only be performed by a professional if you do not want to ruin your hair.”…

At my high school there was a zero tolerance policy, and just like most, it was not always fair. My sophomore year, a classmate of mine was expelled for possessing marijuana and paraphernalia on campus during school. The school discovered this by searching through his backpack without any consent. Their excuse was that you aren't allowed to leave your stuff unattended while on campus. I believe that he was expelled not only for what he brought to school but also for his lack of interest to keep his grades and attendance up, also he was very disrespectful to staff and teachers.…

History: Squeaky Clean and Ignorant At the age of seven I was taught the story of the first Thanksgiving. My class and I were told of the wonders the Pilgrims explored and how kind and peaceful their meeting with the Native Americans was. We dressed up in handmade frocks and pinafores or vests and feathers as we had a feast and played games. We never once considered the accuracy of the history we were taught, nor the implications of the age old legend of the first Thanksgiving. Nor did I, until my junior year of high school, when my history teacher assigned us an assignment on the smallpox pandemic of the Patuxets tribe.…

Most men do not serve the state as men. They serve with their bodies as machines assembled to be soldiers that march into battle against their conscience. Lawyers, politicians, and ministers serve with their minds and are unable to identify moral differences in the law. This issue involves people of all age, race, gender, and class. A few authors I have read who reflected on this issue are, Paul Krugman, Gary Becker and Kevin Murphy. Krugman’s article, “Confronting Inequality”, argues why and how there is problem with large differences between wages of the poor and wealthy. Becker and Murphy’s article, “The Upside of Income Inequality”, argues the importance of education, and how college gives us the skills and knowledge we need to earn a high income.…
