A problem statement has been given –the main focus of this research-, which will be resolved by answering the research questions using desk- and field research.
1.2 Problem statement
The internet is becoming an increasingly important source of business, data and revenue that is used by billions of people every day. This has lead to a controversy about how much information banks and other instances should be allowed to store and use. The vagueness regarding privacy and security, what Rabobank is storing and using, and in what way it affects their customers needs to be cleared up. Ideally, Rabobank would like to have a balance between security and privacy, in which their clients are willing to give up (most of) the decision making process in determining how much security and privacy should be intertwined and connected (within a legal framework), without disturbing consumer trust. In order to achieve this the customers attitude towards sharing personal information needs to change as well as the regulations towards storing and sharing data need to be adapted.
