Orchestra Concert Review

Musical talent is often underappreciated, especially when to comes to local talent. The Queens College Orchestra has a broad range of talented students that very few people get to experience. Leonard Bernstein 100th Anniversary Festival displayed unique renditions of three classical pieces: Candide Overture, Halil, and Three Meditations from Mass. The concert took place at LeFrak Concert Hall in a small auditorium with an ecclesiastical background. The audience was small but very enthusiastic. The event begins with the maestro entering from a discrete door from the side of the stage.
The introduction was the best part of the concert. It started off with a bang. The most prominent instruments were the french horn, the flute and the violin. The reverberations could have been felt throughout the room. The entire piece sounded very oriental. The soloist played the flute and prevail over the other instruments. The premier sections of it reminded me of the Indiana Jones theme song. It then became more severe until ultimately releasing the tension and becoming more joyful again. The entire thing was played in double time. The entire piece could have been an accompaniment to a great epic sad story. There was plenty tension and suspense. At one point there was a decrescendo, only to drop to complete silence for a few seconds. As it crescendo, the Timpani played a big role in adding to a climactic effect. As the soloist took charge once more, her flute perfectly complemented the violens. The entire piece seem to imitate the weather or the buildup of something suspenseful. This piece was the most crowd-pleasing. However, for me, it was the most distasteful because the constant changes between key did not allow for any constance which blocked my
