Orcas Should Be Free

Imagine being held captive in your closet for all of your life with no escape, this is how these poor orcas live their lives in a tank equivalent to the average sized closet. Orcas should be set free and not bothered, Orcas like those at Sea World should be given the same rights we have as humans. This kidnapping, enslaving, and torturing of orcas has become more prevalent even since the animal rights movement was passed in the 1970’s, since then Sea World has been exposed for its treatment to the whales. Animal Slavery for instance is not right either for human nor non- human. (PETA) Furthermore Sea World has taken advantage of these larger than life species in killer whales. Why can they take these creatures from their habitat and use them for their own amusement this wrong, cruel and in other ways abusive? Did you know that whale are smarter than we give them credit for and keeping them in a tank is not what should be done they should be free to live their lives. If we can ban slavery for humans then whales should not be enslaved either. “This effort to extend the Thirteenth Amendment’s solemn protections beyond human being is baseless and in many ways offensive”. (PETA) While many people believe the amendments were written for just humans I don’t think so all human and non-human beings are allowed to not be enslaved. These animals should be kept in a safe environment rather than a concrete tank. “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been dully convicted…” (13th amendment) The thirteenth amendment is one of the most important of the constitution no it doesn’t only apply to humans but to animals as well.
