The Lemon Tree, written by Sandy Tolan originated from a radio documentary that lasted forty-five minutes which was conducted by author Sandy Tolan which was featured on Fresh Air. This interview was then converted into the book in which Mr. Tolan pursues the nostalgic and heartfelt story of two homes and the history of two families which are the center of the story, and up to their present day trials and tribulations. The Lemon Tree symbolizes several things to the various parties involved in the story. For Dalia’s family who move into the Khari home, it first serves as a reminder of the previous owners of the dwelling which her family has thus taken over. For the Khari family, the lemon tree is a symbol of a sense of heritage while the fruit from the tree reminds them of what has been lost and what they desire to reclaim.…

Both the Pacific Northwest and the Coastal South have some sort of agriculture. Agriculture is much more practiced in the Pacific Northwest due to the plentiful precipitation and the soil that is excellent for growing. Despite Florida’s economic boom in the 1920’s, the economy steeply declined as the decade came to an end. Multiple natural disasters hit south Florida and caused tourism and population to go downhill. A hurricane near Miami and Fort Lauderdale damaged the community and wrecked the Overseas Railroad that connected Miami to Key West. A second hurricane flooded the Palm Beach area, which caused Lake Okeechobee to flood. Two thousand people living or staying in nearby communities were drowned.…
Tangerine: not only a citrus fruit, but also a middle school, and county in Florida, and the title of a book Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor. Imagine living in a totally sane neighborhood, and then moving to an insane neighborhood with natural disasters happening everywhere, from left to right. A boy named Paul Fisher, who is battling vision impairment, and is often made fun of because of it, being called names such as “Eclipse Boy” and “Mars.” A significant passage in the novel, was when Paul had a flashback about something that happened in his neighborhood while he was riding his bike back home around dinnertime.…
Gulf Coast Agriculture Citrus, sugar cane, and rice are the major specialty crops grown on the Gulf Coast. Sugar cane is grown primarily in Louisiana and Texas. Juvenile crime in Florida 1. For three of the past four years, Orange County has led the state in juvenile arrests, according to a new state report. There were 6,547 juvenile arrests in Orange County in the 12-month period that ended June 30, according to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in a report released Nov. 14. That's 38 percent more than Miami-Dade, where the population is nearly double.
