Orange is the New Black: Various Portrayals of Femininity & Masculinity
Orange is the New Black is a Netflix original series depicting the lives of women in prison. This show highlights several feminist issues such as racism, sexism, discrimination and other feminist issues. Women can display masculine characteristics just as some men can display feminine characteristics. One does not have to be born a certain sex, in order to act a certain

Usually described as white, heterosexual, cisgender, and male; this seems to become the assumption people make when it comes to characters in the media. Be it from videogame characters, to the main character in nearly every Hollywood movie, and the main focus on various TV shows; this idea of the ‘default man’ has become relevant within not only our culture, but many others as well.
