Orange Ball Monologue Research Paper

Decent Essays
My Little Slice of Heaven

I love the
Thump, thump, thump,
That sound of a ball
Dribbling,
My heart beating in perfect unison.
I long
For the air rushing around my body
As I glide across the floor,
As I fly.
I crave
The burning in my exhausted arms
And the blisters on my hands
That make each push more painful than the last
As I keep going—
Determination and adrenaline urging me on.
I want to feel
The hard, orange ball of rubber,
Power in my hands,
The excitement and energy that courses through my veins,
The smile that splits my face
When the ball goes . . . Swish!
Through the net.
I need
That sense of belonging,
That team camaraderie,
Knowing that I am a part of something bigger, as
Everyone moves, thinks, and plays
As one.

I was always fond of the color orange. It is the fur color of the lovable, bouncy Tigger that enjoyed the company of his friends. There were times where his friends were annoyed by his overly energetic self, but I realized that his optimistic character has helped me to admire the color orange, even today. I also realized that the characters’ houses aligned with the characters themselves. Christopher Robin, the boy from Winnie the Pooh, lived in a tree at the top of the hill in the center of the forest, being the center of his imagination.…

Red… Gold… Orange… Blue… Catching a glimpse of the blue skied day, the leaves rained down on me, swirled by the promise of winter approaching. A faint hint of kerosene perpetually tainted the air, assuring citizens what would occur from hoarding books. As I perched on the branch watching the mindless citizens lazily stroll by, I began to imagine a different world. The world that my uncle and his people describe in their retellings of all the burned stories. A world that appears to be forever lost, despite the attempts of the group to revive the unresponsive community.…
