An optometrist is a doctor that is specialized only in eyes. The job of an optometrist is first to be able to examine eyes and to detect or diagnose a patient if they have any serious eye complications or diseases. They must also prescribe the correct prescription to be able to fix or help the patient’s vision. An optometrist also prescribes glasses or contact lens when needed. Many optometrist also have to be able to deal with eye injuries, or disorders of the eyes. They have to be able to run certain eye tests, see and understand the results of the tests, and diagnose the sight issue. They also may have to treat certain eye diseases and disorders, such as astigmatism though it can not be completely cured it can be aided by either glasses
