“Being a single parent and trying to make it” states Fletcher, who is currently married, but before marriage her life was tough. In her early 20s, Fletcher got pregnant and was not at all prepared. However, she had a great mother who showed a lot of support and was always there for her. The support and the positive impact she received from all of her female relatives made her stronger and gave her a positive outlook on life. She ended up at a job where mostly men were employed and they would pick on her. Fletcher’s toughness showed them that she can do anything a man could do. All women could only do was clean, stay in the house and have babies. Women started off as showgirls or actress when everything was passed and more women became involved in entertainment. However, the entertainment industry was male-dominated so many of them that were in the industry were sexually harassed and treated like sex slaves. To change that they started their own shows, produced their own movies, and did mostly everything independent without the help of any man. One lady that was a big influence in the entertainment industry was Oprah Winfrey. At age 19, while still a sophomore in college, becomes the youngest and first African-American anchor for WTVF-TV in Nashville. She produced movies and also got famous people who are stars now launch their own tv shows. So many women followed her footsteps and did the exact same thing. There are many females that has a big success in the entertainment industry too. Like Shonde Rhimes who dominated prime time tv and Debra L. Lee who is the chief executive officer and vice president for BET. Beyonce who is successful in the music industry made a huge impact on women and little girls. Her song Run the world girls changed every man and woman 's perspective on all women. It gave women a positive outlook on them and gave them confidence to where they could do anything. A great example of an outstanding woman who was all for women’s rights in the entertainment industry was Maya Angelou. Her poem Phenomenal Woman was a great statement for all women different race and culture around the world. “Now you understand, Just why my head 's not bowed. I don 't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say, It 's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'Cause I 'm a woman, Phenomenally.
