Oprah Winfery ,who used her success as a talk show host and media entrepreneur to promote education, civic participation , and charitable works, address graduates at Harvard’s 362nd Commencement on May 30, 2013 at Tercentenary Theatre.

Oprah talked in her speech, after saying her greetings to the students and faculty of Harvard , about her career and how it started. Oprah was a 16 year old participant in the Miss Fire Prevention contest when she was asked about what she wanted to do when she grew up, and surprised herself with her answer that she wanted to be journalist. She ended her show and launched OWN , the Oprah Winfery Network. Unfortunately, a year after launching OWN , media called Oprah’s new venture “ a big bold flop “. That period was the worst time in her professional life. She was stressed , frustrated, and embarrassed. It was then when President Faust called Oprah to ask her to give a commencement speech at Harvard University.
After that call , Oprah felt inspired, and she knew that she could turn her network around , and that is what she did.

Oprah then explained how very natural and expected it is to fall at some point when being successful; it is a way of making the person even stronger and more productive. That only applies of course when one learns from their mistakes. Also, during this time one should think wisely of the next step to rising to a point even higher than they were before. She then talked about a solution for this fall. That is a good resume, which includes your story, what you want to be, why do you want to accomplish certain goals and what is your purpose. Such resume is what is going to get you out of the hole stronger. Oprah discovered this in an interview with little girl who collected her pocket change and collected thousands of dollars to help those in in need. This discovery lead to the beginning of the angel
