In North Country there where dominators on two levels, the corporate level and the employees and peers. The corporate level feared they would have to spend a lot more money on their female employees to accommodate them. The first thing they had to buy where portable restrooms because the men just peed wherever and when women came onto the workforce they could needed a place to actually use the restroom. Employees where afraid that the women would start taking all of their jobs in one scene the site supervisor told Josie she was “taking a mans job where there weren't any jobs to take”. The men also expressed a concern that the women complaining was gonna get the mine shut down and they would all be out of work.
