In Freire’s time education was a means of oppression because it was the transfer of monologue reality/truth and denied the learners the opportunity to figure out reality/truth for themselves leading to no freedom of thought; if learners don’t think for themselves how can they be themselves?; because through thought one discovers self, others and the world.

The role of promoting togetherness, and full understanding of reality/truth through flexible, reflective, ethical, and dialogical co-discovery/ co- inquiry of self, others and the world.
1.4. Argument outline
Togetherness can only be achieved through co-creation of a single non oppressive world view and full understanding of reality/truth can only be achieved through co-discovery or co-inquiry of reality/truth about anything and everything though the passing on of ideas, experience, knowledge, skills and beliefs and for this to happen education needs to be a flexible, reflective, ethical, and dialogical co-discovery/ co- inquiry of self, others and the world.
