His prospective on the impact of opioids was the use of opioids in businesses whether it be the employees or customers. Employee Assistance programs are available, they are for employees in the workplace with drug addictions. It helps reduce medical costs by early identification of individual mental health and substance abuse issues. “Not only is it good for your employees but it is good business practice.” Along with good business practice the program also benefits or helps to improve: education, Workplace violence, Safety and emergency, absence management. It takes about two to five minutes to administer. Only impacts the opioids overdoses, has no effect on any other drug overdose. If you believe that someone is having an overdose some signs are: they are not responding, unconscious, blue lips and foaming of mouth. If you see these signs you should administer the naloxone. He proceeded to show how to administer a narcan. Narcans are available at most pharmacies, hospitals and substance abuse centers. At the end of the forum he was giving out a Naloxone kit to anyone who was interested free of charge. I enjoyed attending this forum. It was great eye opener to be aware of what is going around us and in our communities. They also brang light to situations that I wasn’t aware were occurring such as the public bathroom overdose and the EPA services that were being offered. The increasing numbers of overdoses in Staten Island is a major issue and needs to be addressed and
