Opie Monologue

Great Essays
The summer breeze brushed past my sundress as I walked down the lane. My over-sized brown boots dragging on the ground. The vibrant sunlight kissing my face with its glory as it peeks through the leafy branches of each tree overhead. As I pass friendly faces down the street my smile starts to widen. The laughter and neighborly conversation that surrounds me as I stride further along the lane fills me with joy and happiness. The sights and sounds that penetrate the atmosphere around me are only those of beauty and pure positivity. Fresh fruits fill the outside of local shops and the sweet aroma of baked goods permeate the air. Classical music plays softly in a small music shop ahead, a quiet sound that emanates through the lane. As I continue …show more content…
After, I put on my sunflower dress and headed for breakfast. Before I could get to the kitchen, I suddenly stopped and peered out the window. To my surprise, I saw the young blond boy sat silently in the road, alone. I promptly opened the front door, calling out to Opie. Does he even know me, I wondered? Opie remained in the same position as before, motionless and still as a statue. “Opie, you better get out of the road. It is not safe there.” I said over the 12 feet of grass amid Opie and I. “You can’t stay there forever.” I shouted. Suddenly, I spotted a car zooming through the neighborhood faster than the speed of light. I called once again to Opie. “Opie there is a car coming, you need to get out of the road” I exclaimed. The car quickly approached the street Opie so serenely sat upon. Before I could let out another word, I bolted out my house running in the direction of the blond boy. The black asphalt burned my bare feet as I quickly made my way across the lengthy street. The raging automobile swiftly turned the corner onto the road I stood on.
