Ophthalmologist Research Paper

Improved Essays
When I grow up, I want to be an ophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist is a person who deals with the eye. They are an eye doctor. I have a reason behind me wanting to be an ophthalmologist. When I was in 5th grade I got glasses, I thought I could see perfectly. Then I noticed myself having to ask to move up to the front of the room to take notes, unlike before. So I told my mom, and turned out I needed them pretty badly. Ever since then, I have had glasses. Last year, during career week, I started thinking about having the career of an ophthalmologist because I know how it feels not to be able to see. I understand how it can be uncomfortable and seem not right. I know that from personal experience. I want to help the people who are like me.

Most little girls dream of being a ballerina when they grow up, I was the little girl who dreamed of medical school. Anyone who was brave enough to ask got my vehement no when asked if I thought that the college, subsequent medical school, and training would be too much school or that I would get bored. I decided very early that to be a doctor was one of the most exciting things that a person could chose to be and my fantastic pediatrician was the initial spark for this love of medicine. The care that I could see him exhibit in his daily operations as well as the ease at which he interacted with patients and parents alike inspired me. My teachers have all been great, because I was able to receive a great education and they were able to do their job by keeping the order in their room. Being a high school student, I made the decision to enroll in honors classes; they would give me more of a challenge and the extra work would help me with time management. I can gladly say that I have received skills and advice that will continue to help me in my future endeavors.…
