Introduction

This assignment is to discuss an organization’s operations management strategy. Operations management concentrates on improving the activities, which is necessary to be aggregated with the possible options of markets to develop the performance of the concern. For the purpose of this assignment I have analyzed the operations management strategy Tesco PLC. As their function contributes to customer satisfaction because the departments ensures that customers get what they want whenever they wanted. (Tesco, 2007)

Tesco is relentlessly leveraging on technology to offer convenience for the customer by helping them to shop, whenever, wherever and how ever they wanted.

Cost
Tesco has incorporated this performance objective into its operation by ensuring that all other performance objectives are met and thus spending less on correction of mistakes and more on improving process efficiency.

Dependability
Some examples of how Tesco implement dependability within the organization is proper research before consignment of a courier system. The Company will ensure that its delivery system is top notch such that customers can get their products on time. The Company makes sure that customers do not wait for too long, if applicants are not viable, then Tesco informs them as soon as possible so that they do not have to waste time waiting unnecessarily and able to do something else while

One such example is Irish yoghurt sold by the Company (Hogan, 1998). The Company introduced this product into its stores after it realized that modern trends are moving towards more natural/organic products. This type of yoghurt was made entirely by natural products. The product is made from natural milk, cultures from the milk itself and natural milk solids. By introducing this type of product, Tesco is demonstrating that it is flexible and considers what their customer’s need is at the present time.

Another example is through the introduction of its own product lines that bear the Tesco brand name. Some products include Jams, pizzas, bread, biscuits, milk and etc. The Company also changes the amount of certain products availability during certain times of the year. These few particular products will be available in minimal amounts during winter times but during summer, the product will be available in large proportions.
