Operation Zip Tie Character Analysis

The hardest thing in life is to humble yourself and to realize that the world doesn’t revolve around you. Although most people in the world believe the purpose in their life is to eat, sleep, breathe, and enjoy their life, they are wrong. The purpose of life is simply to leave the world a better place. I was always taught do a good turn daily through boy scouts, but what I have learned over the years is that you should help when ever you can, not only when it is convenient to you. Through my efforts in helping the community I have showed leadership qualities and my character in several ways. This past summer I headed Operation Zip Tie with Grant Stevenson. Operation Zip Tie was a fundraiser to raise money for Blessings in a Backpack, a national organization dedicated to feeding hungry children. Through countless hours, we successfully raised over four thousand five hundred dollars directly to local children in need. We focus the funds on Chapman Elementary, a Dublin school where several students are on the federal reduced/free lunch program. The money we raised will go to buying canned goods to give to the children over the weekend. …show more content…
I truly believe in helping the community in anyway possible. I want to leave the earth better than I found it. When I heard of the organization of Blessings in a backpack, and heard that children at a Dublin school go home hungry over the weekend, I knew I had to take action to help in anyway possibly. I care about the people in my community that I don’t even know, and I take it upon myself to ensure that I can make a positive difference in each and person’s life. One of the most rewarding feelings in the world is helping people, and I love helping people in any and every way I

While the majority of Bacon’s “Idols” that “beset” our minds and lead to error are present in Plautus’ play, Double Bind, the Idols of the theater is the most prevalent “Idol” with regards to how male characters both discuss and engage with female characters. The Idols of the theater are used as methods for understanding, which are dramatized (in that they are generalizations or stereotypes), unreal, and are made up or false, all of which ultimately lead to some form of error. Double Bind plays into the stereotypes of women as inherently less than men as they are considered idiotic and stupid, promiscuous, and crazy. This connects to the Idols of the theater because the male characters only see the predominant female characters, such as Dovey and Loveykins, in terms of generalizations or stereotypes of their gender. Male characters in Double Bind, such as Clueless One, Clueless Two, Antiquides, Smug, and Diddley not only discuss females as a generalized form of error, but they also engage with the females in a manner…

I say that humbly, because I know just how hard some people’s lives are. There are many people in my town that are poverty-stricken and barely have anything. They struggle to find food and many of these people live on the streets.…

To be honest, I don’t have a lot of extracurricular activities due to school and work schedule, but I do have a passion for community service. Last summer, I volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank. My job was very simple: sorting and packing food to distribute to people in need. I had a chance to work with other volunteers, sharing fun and experiences. Many nearby companies such as: Cisco, Samsung, and Intel came there to volunteer also.…

Throughout my life, I have actively tried to surround myself with experiences which would allow me the chance to make a positive impact on not only myself but, more importantly, on the communities around me. The value of service, as well as the capacity to create sustainable change, are the driving factors that have intrinsically motivated me to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer. This drive began when I was a child. My father is the Project Developer for a non-profit organization in Miami, FL and since my childhood, he has instilled within me the concept that I have the unique opportunity to help others around the world no matter the circumstance.…

What are my ethical beliefs? In order to answer that question I had to do a good amount of self-reflection. I went on a run to clear my head and engage in an audit of my beliefs. I came up with three ethical beliefs: the belief that all people are entitled to marriage, the belief that mediocrity should not be accepted, and the belief that people have an obligation to help those that are less fortunate. I begin with my belief regarding marriage.…

Instead of staying self involved, focusing those energies outward helps everyone around you. I now seek out those who are hurting, wanting to be a ray of light for them through the thick darkness. Anytime someone is downcast, I always try my best to assist them in any way I can. An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…
