Operation Thunderbolt was one of the most daring hostage rescue mission carried out by the Israel Defence Forces at Entebbe airport in Uganda on 4th July, 1976. On 27th June, an Air France flight 139 with 248 people on board was hijacked and taken to Entebbe airport in Uganda by two members of Popular front for the Liberation of Palestine and two members from German Revolutionary cells.
