Peter the Great’s inspiration from successful western education and ideas helped him to create a period of progress and prosperity for Russia. First of all, according to the account of John Perry, before the time of Peter the Great, the country of Russia was sheltered and only familiar with their own language and culture. They were “void of learning” (doc 8) and did not make an attempt to aid their own ignorance. He also describes the Russian people as “wary and cautious to keep out all means that might bring [learning] in, less their ignorance should be discovered” (doc 8). The document conveys how isolated and uneducated Russia was before the time of Peter the Great.…

Peter William Sutcliffe otherwise known as ‘The Yorkshire Ripper ' was arrested on January 1st, 1981 after a murderous spree which spanned five years and claimed the lives of 13 women and attempting to murder a further seven (see appendix for details of victims). The case engulfed the nation as one of the most brutal in modern history since that of ‘Jack the Ripper ' in the 1800 's hence why the media adopted the term ‘Yorkshire ripper ' when addressing the case. Although known for the heinous crimes and number of them the case is also infamous for the failings of the West Yorkshire Police force in its hunt of Sutcliffe. The tension throughout West Yorkshire left neighbour suspecting neighbour and women afraid to be out at night alone. Despite the efforts of the police force, it was a standard patrol with an experienced officer who was training another that caught Sutcliffe and brought an end to his spree.…

The idea of characterization is fully exemplified when talking about Peter's heroism. As Peter travels through Narnia he appears to mature as a young boy (Osborne 117), which is one reason he can be seen as hero. At the beginning of the novel, Peter seems to be a normal boy with insecurities and is unable to come out of his comfort zone (Lewis 2). Also the way Peter acts towards his siblings can seem to be stubborn. This is shown when Peter does not believe that Lucy is telling the truth about Narnia even though she has never fibbed (Sgro 1).…
