Operation Car Wash Case Study

The operation called car wash (lava jato) is the biggest investigation on corruption and money laundering in Brazil. The name comes from the use of gas stations and car washs to move illicit resources in one of the criminal organizations initially investigated. The judge of the first instance responsible for the operation is called Sergio Moro; he is a Federal judge, writer and college professor, and he is considered a brave, effective and very well qualified judge. In the government, many politics are responsible of money laundering in Brazil, they hide money in many different states. They estimate the amount of money to be billions of dollars. The judge Moro is the one responsible of the prison of all the corrupts. He was the first judge to put in prison that many politics. Even though there were that many other operations before, the operation car wash was the biggest operation in the state.
The operation car wash had already 38th phases. The 1st phase was done in march 2014 where federal police deflagrates the operation in six states and in the federal district. More than twenty requests for arrest are dispatched. People that worked for Petrobras and Politics are arrested and Alberto Youssef is arrested for being accused of intermediate payments of bribe among contractors. In my opinion he should have been convicted for more years than what he was because many of the information that the police received from unknowns accusing him of money laundering and corruption could not be
