Openness and Commitment to the Change Process The readiness for change is the need of after school programs to increase the increase the academic performance of low academic students. The change process is to help low academic students with additional help in their learning capability. In order for this change process to take action for the recommended low academic performing students is up to the participants to act on this change for the benefit of the students. “Openness to change involves an informal assessment, based on experience, of how people in decision-making positions have dealt with earlier proposals” (Netting, Kettner, McMurtry, & Thomas, 2012, pg. 325). There are a number of resources that will be playing their individual role in regards to the students and their academics. Even though there are after school programs present in the school after school hours for average level academic students, it should be more for the low academic students as stated throughout the paper. The after school program is to take place during after school hours for about 45 minutes, as additional learning. There are about three teachers in each of the 1st to 5th grade classes, so the extra help for the students can take place in each of the classes for the stated grades. Only if there is consistent availability for the teachers during the afterhours of school. The teachers who see their students on a daily basis can dedicate 45 minutes of their time into helping their low academic performing students. There would be no additional outside resources needed for the teachers and students, unless it is a need for paper to make copies and/or pencils for the students. What can be used are educational materials that are present in the classroom that is used during school hours, and can be used after school hours.
