Open Enrollment Advantages

Open enrollment is schools where parent can send their children to other districts besides the schools near their neighborhood. Sadker & Zittleman (2016) states that open enrollment eliminates requirement to attend neighborhood schools. Open enrollment schools have similar qualities as magnet schools. In brief, parents can decide to send their children to another school outside their neighborhood.
One advantage of open enrollment is that students are not limited to one school. This means that student have numerous schools to choose from. Another advantage is that parents can choose schools closer to their jobs in order to pick up the student quicker.
One disadvantage of open enrollment is that this creates competition for neighborhood schools.
