Who and Why?

Onnik Mehrabian is one of the most successful and well known entrepreneurs in Glendale, a suburb in the greater Los Angeles area, and the city where I have lived for over 15 years since my family came to the United States. As a businessman and philanthropist, he has made a huge impact on the community over the course of about two decades by providing affordable transportation for consumers regardless of their income as well as creating many jobs for the work force. He is a household name within the Glendale community and very influential in the field of business and politics.

However, Mr. Onnik utilized the resources he could get his hands on and maximized on his opportunities. I enjoyed hearing about his journey to the United States because it shows that he was not going to let any road blocks come in between him and his entrepreneurial dream. In addition, I feel that since we are both of Armenian descent and my parents took a similar path to coming to America we will have aspects of our lives that overlap. This will make it much easier for me to build a personal relationship with him and relate to his …show more content…
Onnik started realizing that he had a bit of extra money from his auto business that he did not need to reinvest, he decided to invest in real estate. He also began to produce an Armenian television network which would broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout northern and southern California. He used the same concept of supply and demand to build this television network. As Armenian and Iranian refugees began migrating to the U.S., specifically Glendale, the demand for international television networks in the community grew.
