By social networking the whole body of media influencing reaching large numbers of public, the major ones being newspapers, television and the World Wide Web also now as internet. The main purposes of social networking are to interact with people for information, entertainment and just to get to know everyone you meet. Things more efficient, but it has also become a large impact on everybody life. Without even knowing it, people use technology several times a day. Technology has actually become a necessity to millions of people around the world. However, a closer look at the impact of some of these advancements may cause one to question whether or not it is actually needed. Facebook is an online social network where one can post comments, upload pictures, and find out the latest news. This often distracts teenagers from doing homework or other school activities. Studies have shown that “social networking will always result in lower grades” (Carter). Not only can this hurt the students’ grades, but the content that is put on this social networking site is what is affecting them too. What teenagers do not realize is that everyone and anyone including principals, employers, and other important future connections can see posted information, pictures, and videos online. Posting inappropriate information could hurt a teenager’s education by resulting in suspension from school, not getting accepted into colleges, or not getting a job (Fodeman and Monroe). Then they easily have access to information about someone, which can be very dangerous for that person. Teens need to be safe about what they put, say, or do on social networking …show more content…
It can be concluded that Facebook can have harmful effects on teenagers. Hopefully teenagers become aware of these problems and take steps to avoid the dangers that can happen. This will decrease the problems that Facebook creates. Technology was formed to improve society, not to hurt it. Taking steps to correct these problems will turn the tables of technology to make it a positive way to communicate with others. With technology increasing to extremes, making Facebook a positive environment where people can connect and communicate would be the healthiest
