A recent change that has been instituted on my clinical unit is the use of online self scheduling. Before the employees will have to create their schedule at the unit and a committee will create the schedule based on how many people signed up for a specific day and the employees first choice. This change was planned and my unit is the pilot unit for the online self scheduling. The goals of the online save scheduling is to make it easier for the employees and managers to create the schedule. It also makes it easier for the employees to find people to covered their shift if they can't work it for some reason. The nurses are the ones that are going to be impacted by this change. I think that this is a positive change for the unit and the hospital.
