Taking an online music lesson was the most feasible in my situation because of time constraint and also how expensive music lessons can be in Palm Beach County. PianoOnlineBlog was the source of the piano lesson. The instructor who was a female started the lesson by explaining the key objectives that were meant to teach the student a greater understanding of playing the piano. The objectives were as follow:
• Sitting at the piano
• Distinguishing high notes from low notes.
• Combination of white and black keys
• The piano has high and low notes
• Straight back and good posture
• No slouching
• Sit at a comfortable position
The objectives taught the student different aspects regarding the piano, and how to play it. When you distinguish the high notes from the low notes, you

When it comes to playing the piano, people get discouraged because of the long hours you have to input in order to learn the instrument, but it is not as arduous as it seems. After putting the negative mindset aside, she discussed the music notes, which are the ABC’s of music. The notes are marked by the letters ABCDEFG. After discussing the music notes, she taught the piano keys. The black keys are used to play what is known as sharp (#) and flat (b) notes. They appear in groups of twos and threes. An example of learning the keys was by locating the Middle C, which is the white key to the left of the two black keys. The location of the Middle C is in the middle of the piano, and by locating the first middle set, you can go left to right in the piano, and notice how the key immediate to any set of two black keys is a C. After, she explained how each note indicates the count it should receive; the Whole Note is four beats, the Half Note is two beats, and the Quarter Note is one beat. After giving a thorough explanation, she played the piano to encourage her students before ending the lesson for the

On the surface, one might not think that the great Italian opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi and the acclaimed indie group Dinosaur Jr. have much in common. One concert, for instance, took place in an intimate performing arts center to an attentive and quietly reverent audience while the other in a loud, rough-and-tumble rock venue to a lively and informal audience. Indeed, there may appear to be no similarities between the effortlessly skilled classical stylings of the UNT College of Music and the deliberately ramshackle indie sound of Dinosaur Jr. However, with these two concerts, we see Christopher Small’s concept of “musicking” in full effect and, critically, two different forms of the same musical elitism.…

Music can be used to evoke underlying emotions and can help people to express themselves with ease. It fuels the mind and thus it fuels feelings. Music is universal in the sense that there are no boundaries to understand it. It transcends the frontiers of communication as people can speak and tell stories to others, even though they do not speak the same language. When listening to music, everyone can understand it and feel something if they open themselves up.…

For my own virtual jazz band, I wanted to try and pick jazz musicians who could mend well with a dance or a swing band. Max Roach on drums, Charles Mingus on bass, Benny Goodman on clarinet, Lester Young on tenor sax, Cannonball Adderly on alto sax, Joe “Tricky Sam” Nanton on trombone, Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet, Ella Fitzgerald and Cab Calloway as singers, and Duke Ellington on piano and as the bandleader. The group would have the style of early 20th century dance bands and do a live performance in front of an audience, possibly with a dance floor. The style of the band, as a whole, would take after a lot of Duke Ellingtons’ early big bands.…

The student has acquired commendable sight reading and musicianship skills through his work as a choral scholar at the Cathedral. However this work has imposed problems upon the voice such as a relatively straight tone and breathiness. Richard's lesson was fluidly structured to attempt to cover as many aspects of singing as possible. I think having a general lesson plan that is fluid and able to be adjusted for each student means that the student can have a clear goal and not lose concentration, as the activity is changing. The student seemed fully engaged in the lesson and was receptive to Richard's teaching style.…

The performance I attended was the graduate recital for a student from UTEP, Diana L. Esparza. Although not quite an orchestral performance, the music presented still incorporated many of the concepts that we have reviewed over the semester, and a handful of composers that we have reviewed as well: two of these composers being Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, and Giuseppe Verdi. The overall nature of the pieces selected involved various genres that incorporate a singer in its scoring, as well as a piano and at one point a clarinet. Some of the genres utilized in the performance included arias (Ah! Je veux vivre, Ah, fors’é lui che l’anima… Sempre libera), lieds/art songs (Am See, Dein blaues Auge, Au bord de l’eau, Toujours) and…

It was written in 1776, mainly by Thomas Jefferson, along with John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston. At the concert, I was a perspective listener. The perspective listener is a combination of all of the listener types. A perspective listener enjoys the sound of the music but is also critically aware of how it makes them feel and why and it also makes associations with the music whether it being from a feeling or a memory. Going to the concert I was listening with great concentration, trying to hear every aspect of the piece.…

Podcasting is the latest in on-the-go, on-demand technology. Basically, a podcast is a digital recording of audio or web/visual content, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal computer or MP3 player. A lot like radio on demand , podcasting actually offers far more options in terms of content and programming than radio does. And best of all, with podcasting, you can download whatever programming you want and listen to it whenever and wherever you want.…
