Internet based mental health resources for adolescents and young people is a burgeoning model of mental health service delivery. The dramatic increase in e-mental health resources includes a plethora of on-line resources, social media and smartphone applications (Karasouli & Adams, 2014). For the purpose of this paper e-mental health refers to all information and communication technologies [ICTs] that support and improve mental health. However, a word of caution, that online mental health resources may not be seen as a substitute but rather a complementary mode of accessibility and engagement with mental health information and services. The emergence of on-line mental health resources is pervasive and may influence the gap between prevalence and treatment supporting the strain on existing public mental health services (Moock, 2014). This paper aims to carefully peruse the usage of on-line resources for mental health promotion and early intervention with self help programs highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of this service system. …show more content…
