Networking Diminution of Education Online courses have been around for quite some time. Since the early 1960s online learning has been a means of help to many students due to the ease of accessing their school materials in a virtual setting. Although the online school environment may serve as a much more helpful way of completing required courses, this type of learning environment has may defects that prevent proper education and learning compared to the classroom. Online learning, compared to face-to-face learning, is not a good means of learning because one could pay another to do his or her work, search engines can be used to find answers to assignments instead of studying, and student concerns are not presented as they are in the physical …show more content…
Students in an online class usually may have questions about assignments, but may not be able to acquire the feedback that they need. Most teachers can only be reached by email, and even then the teacher(s) may take a day or so to respond. The online article on Seattlepi.com states that, “Online students can 't rely on as much instructor and peer feedback and accountability as traditional courses sometimes offer. Instructors often update grades through virtual grade books and don 't have as much opportunity for regular informal feedback before and after classes” (Kokomuller). What if one has an assignment that they are working on and has questions, but their teacher has not yet responded to their emails? The assignment must still be completed, but may not be as good as the student may have been able to put together. Students also lack the interactions of their peers in online classes. Their peers can offer assistance with assignments, feedback, tips, and many other helpful means of being able to complete the course. Skilledup.com offers another interesting point that students are not able to have the experience that can be gained only in certain facilities for different areas of concentration (Rauch). Students are able to get away with things that students in the physical class would not be able to do. Students are able to pay other people to do their work, used the privileges of the web and misuse them to find material that one could obtain from studying, and the lack of adequate communication between students and teachers. Online learning is a place where learning is not the main focus. Education is a must and online learning environments do not provide
