There are people of all ages who spend many hours a week playing online games. Why do they play the games and what effects does this activity have on them and their community?
One of the major benefits of playing an online game is the community and the friendships developed. When a player first loads an online game, he or she starts talking with the other players. After a while, the players get to know each other and they form a supportive community just like communities are formed on other teams. People may play video games for extensive periods of time and these multiple hours of sitting in front of a computer screen can cause many physical, psychological and overall performance issues. According to Dr. C. Shawn Green, gamers may become obese which can increase the risk of high levels of cholesteral, diabetes, and hypertension. Players can also develop insomnia which causes drowsiness and a hypoactive immune system. With sitting in a chair for an extensive amount of time, back pains may form and may result in scoliosis. Dr. Mohamed K. Khan states that “video-gaming may put people at a risk of photosensitive seizures, a form of epilepsy triggered by constantly flashing lights and speedily moving objects.” Psychological health refers to social behavior and mental stability. Social isolation can be a consequence of video game addiction because if people play a lot of video game and they spend time doing that theu spend less time with their families and with their frands. Also, they want to go back to their house just ot get back to the gmae, after a a while this might transphorme into anthropohobia or otherwise know as the fear oof human company. Uncontrolable videogame addiction effects a students preformance in school beche he or she are too busy playing games and dont focas on schoiool, they sepend more times in games than on their studies. thie may lead to academically incompetentness. This also effects adults becuse they would spen extencive hours on gmaing and miss out on sleep and become less productive or focased in thier workk place. Long time gamers may exerince a negitive effect on teir concentration and the lack of time manigment. Some gamers also have economical problems becuase they are addicted to the games and they keep on buysing the new one or the betterones which causes them to spend muny on the game cuseing economical
