According to article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to an education. Nowhere in the article states that an education received at an online institution is more or less legitimate than that of a psychical institution. As it happens, studies have found that 74% of for-profit universities offer online courses, and more than half of these are equivalent to classes offered in person. With this being said, an online education does help students due to the fact that flexibility, access to lectures and materials is always available, and an education is an education no matter how renounced an institution is.
Due to the fact that online learning is exceptionally flexible, students that have a full time job or children that do not allow them to physically attend class are able to learn at a time that is convenient for them. A major factor as to why many people do not attempt to further their education is because of the expensive costs of attending a college or university. For many people, life right after high school is immediately looking for a job that will be able to support their families which, because of their lack of income, makes a higher education out of the question. At the time, it was considered outrageous, but now women are more likely to earn a college education than men. The comparison is meant to provide an emphasis on how a once unconventional idea of education is now a norm that is accepted by a substantial amount of people. Times are constantly changing and adapting to suit the needs of the population.
