Online dating has always intrigued me. Although I have never made an account for myself on any of the myriad dating applications, I was still fascinated to hear what my friends had to say about their experiences. Coming to live in a new country added another layer of curiosity and before I knew it, I had more questions about human attraction, interaction, and online dating than subject matters in my classes at university. That is, until I was assigned to read Chapter 12 of my Social Psychology textbook on attraction, relationships, and love. How convenient. With time, she had accumulated more exciting photographs and decided to update her new profile: she changed a few pictures and included ones that showcased her hobbies (one was of her skydiving). She took down her dancing picture, assuming men were more intrigued by her flexibility than her passion for the art. She also wrote a short bio describing her interests and current field of study. While some men did continue to pester her with inappropriate pick-up lines as they did in New York City, her luck was surely turning around. She was asked out by several men, some of whom she went on multiple dates with.
Currently, she is exclusively dating a man she met on Happn. While the following information is based on scientific observation and statistical evidence, it is not by any means the only reason, or even the exact reason, as to why Kate and her current boyfriend, Adam, have begun

In fact, Kate recalled meeting men out at bars and if they were short (about five foot six and shorter), she would not be as interested in them as men standing several inches higher. Height is a trait associated with access to resources. While she may not be able to pinpoint exactly why tall men are more appealing to her than short ones, it is a natural innate preference to have.
