Oneness Pentecostals only baptize people in Jesus’ name. Acts 2:38 is believed to be the fulfillment of Matthew 28:19, therefore when baptism is performed in Jesus name, the oneness group believes they are fulfilling the command in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 also is a scripture that has been taken out of context by the Oneness group. Speaking in tongue is another belief that is vital to the Oneness belief system. If a person speaks in tongue, they are exhibiting evidence of the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongue is not necessary for salvation within their belief system, but is the only evidence that a person has received the Holy Spirit. This belief is similar to the doctrine traditional …show more content…
Colossians 2:9 states “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” Oneness Pentecostals state that the word Trinity is not found within scripture, and use this evidence for denying the trinity. Although the word is not present in scripture, if one looks closely at the teachings of the Bible, the doctrine of the Trinity can be clearly seen. The distinction of the Trinity is clearly laid out at Jesus baptism in Matthew 3:16-17. With in the versus Jesus as the son is baptized. God as the father spoke from heaven and the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus as a dove. If God as one were acting as three parts as the Oneness Pentecostals believe. In their belief if a person is truly save it will be evident by the ability to speak in tongue. It is necessary to point out within Scripture many of the converts of Jesus aka those who were saved did not speak in tongue. Speaking in tongue as Scripture teaches is a spiritual gift that not everyone has. Throughout the Bible speaking in tongue was not a frequent occurrence it only occurred at rare events. Because it was not a frequent occurrence for new believers in Biblical times it stands that this would be true for new believers

Patricia, I used that scripture in my discussion as well. It tells us some much when it comes to confessing and believing in the word of God. It tells is the baptism is not a requirement to obtain God's salvation, but our faith is what draws us nearer to God. Faith and believing is what allows God to enter in our hearts. With different religious opinions, there will always be a debate on what is required for God's salvation.…

The 1500s were a time of confusion and also clarification. With so many strict religious practices thriving during these years, many people were left with ideas that their ignorance towards the understanding of what the bible preached and reasons for certain theories, would all contribute towards the idea that they were not true and faithful Christians. Martin Luther was a person who was able to prove many of these opinions wrong and inform people that certain teachings of the church don’t have to be present in someone’s christian practices to connect closer with god. In both the Babylonian Captivity of the Church, and the Small Catechism, Luther provides examples of the ways an ordinary person can improve their relationship with God while…

Throughout the book of Acts there are a few different instances of growth in the church that come after the Ascension of Jesus. The one that anyone who has the slightest bit of knowledge on the book of Acts would know is The Pentecost. The day of the Pentecost there were 120 believers all in one spot, praying to God to show them whether Barsabbas or Matthias should be the new Apostle in place of Judas, who had been struck dead by God. Acts 2:1-4, everyone in the room was filled with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2:14-41…
