William Westley Moore, Wes Moore’s father, was the type of father that wanted to be involved in his children's’ lives to love and protect them. Wes Moore, the father, was “calm, reassuring, hardworking, and sober” (Moore 12). But one Friday evening, that all came to an end when Wes fell from the top of the stairs then left the hospital with the instructions to “get some sleep” (Moore 14). On the contrary, the other Wes Moore has never met his father that he could remember. Bernard, the other Wes’s father, “spent most of his time searching for himself at the bottom of liquor bottles” (Moore 23).
